Got blood work results back.

Well, I got my lab results back that I had my Dr draw in regards to suspected fibro, which, by the way, no one thinks I have now, none of the :"points" hurt anymore, and I never did hurt below the waist, just above. Anyway, here are the results, are all great except for the D vitamin, it is very low, and this may be one reason why I ache so much.

Sed rate: 5
RA Factor, Normal
High Sensitivity CRP: 0.04
Vitamin B12: Normal 475
Folate: Normal 12.3
TSH reflex:2.96
Vitamin D-25hydroxy: 17. This is too low, normal is between 30 and 150.

For the vitamin "D" she is having me take Vitamin D drops, 1000 IU each drop and I am to take 5 to total 5000. I am to be checked in 3 months.

Anyway, not to brag, but, I am sure glad I forced these tests, if not, I would not have known.

Just thought you all would be interested. I will start seeing that real good doctor I told you all about in Seattle on May 27, I am excited about that.

Well, I just called the clinic and re-scheduled it, so, I will be going in Thursday for the scan. The price was not as bad as I thought it would be, it is 135.00, I thought it would be lots higher, like the MRI I had.

I am glad you all sort of pushed this, I needed that.

Hugs to all
Susie

You know, I did not think of that, you are right, having the low D level puts me at a higher risk even though I have no other risks factors, Geesh. Well, guess I best call the office and re-schedule the darn thing.

Laura, I am already starting to feel better on the D and don't hurt as much, plus, my heart "flutters" are not as noticeable, YIPPEE. Last February, over a year ago, when they checked it, it was 41, I thought then it was too low, but she said it was OK, but, I bet that is why I was hurting and had the flutters, now, as I said, a year later, it is 17, NOT good. Oh well, I am glad I forced the test, if not we would not have known. Whew that was close. I will be glad when I start seeing my original Naturopath in Seattle, she is always on top of things.

Oh yes, our lab says that normal is 30 to 150. wonder why each lab has different readings?

Sassie-  Can't wait to hear how good you start to feel after you have been taking the VitD for a little while. That was probably the cause of all the aches.
Vit D is also good for inflammation and immune system.
I live in Florida and my level is only a 47 (range- 32-100 with Quest). I am always in the sun....so no we don't absorb it like we should. I have read that optimum is really 60 and over.

Duh!  Forgot to ask, how can you have low vitamin D (bone builder) and your doctor says you're low risk for osteoporosis?

Yep, PlateletGal's got a good point.  I'm in my 30s and have osteopenia too.  And I was extremely active until a few years ago.  I hear you about the no insurance.  Sometimes, if you have the test done at a hospital, they'll work out a payment arrangement or write it off depending on circumstances.  Just keep it in mind...

"she said I was a low risk and too young"

Do you have any underlying health issues ? Because I have osteopenia and I'm young (in my 30s) and I've met people online with CFS who were on the original treatment that I was on who were VERY young (even in their 20s) and had osteopenia !

We discussed it, but, due to the fact I don't have insurance, we decided to wait, besides, she said I was a low risk and too young, however, I will do one if I don't get satisfaction from my other tests and such, I have already been cleared and have the paperwork, all I need is the appointment.

You may want to consider asking your physician to order a DEXA scan to rule out osteopenia and/or osteoporosis.

Best,

Margy~The drops are a lot easier to assimilate and get in your blood stream lots faster. I was so surprised it was low, last year when I had it tested, it was just fine.

The high sensitivity CRP is C-Reactive Protein. When it is higher than 1.0. that can indicate inflammation in the arteries, and, contrary to what most docs will say, it is a far better indicator of coronary artery disease than high cholesterol. If the CRP is high, the inflammation causes the arteries to be rough, sort of like cuticles and when that happens, it is the roughness that catches the cholesterol and causes the build-up and  makes it dangerous. EVERYONE should have this test done, and if it is high, it is so easy to lower it. I keep my low by taking liquid fish oil by Carlson, 2 tablespoons a day and also drinking 4 ounces of Pomegranate Juice, this is a great anti-inflammatory as well.

My High Sensitivity CRP being 0.04 is super, it means I have absolutely no inflammation in my arteries at all and am at a low risk.

I was going to start on Vit D I heard yesterday that you may not get as much as you think from the sun , something to do with the rays not going beneath the skin enough, why did you get drops, I guess they are easier to take,You got some good news  not having fibro and your results apart from the D sound good, what does the high sensitivity mean ,is that good, Bionic seems to have taken a powder,/ flown off somewhere again...
