Lots of people take those two together -- it's very common.  That doesn't cause the brain shocks, withdrawal does.  Taking it every other day isn't a taper, that just throws you into withdrawal every other day.  Please, talk to your psychiatrist.  Don't be stubborn, or in a hurry.  SAMe is for depression, not anxiety; 5htp is for both, but you can't take either if you're on an ssri as they both affect serotonin.  A six week taper is best, and if that's too fast, you go slower.  Why suffer more?

Make sure you were entirly free of the effects of The meds you were on, before taking 5HTP and no I doubt it would stop the brain zaps. as we have said see your Doctor and ask him how to wean off them as you will be very sick.

Still would encourage you to taper under the care of a psychiatrist.  The brain zaps and other things are classic withdrawal symptoms, so you might have missed doses or something, I really don't know, but you should be careful about this.  If you've been on Xanax a long time, it can cause seizures to quit suddenly, and Zoloft withdrawal can be pretty bad and it sounds like you're already suffering some of the symptoms for some reason.  Talk to your psychiatrist and taper slowly.

Well dont do it cold turkey I expect you know that... you have to ween off slowly my daughter went through this and she still gets tinnatus .I do agree that they dont help everyone but ease off for your own sake. There are some supplements may help you ,5HTP can help once you are clear of all the effects of the meds you were prescribed, also Sam -E is another that can help with mood.,used a lot in Europe, you can google both of these anf they tell you all about them both get good reviews .

I know you can get what seems to be known as brain Zaps ,almost like an electric jolt it is usually associated with with- drawing too quickly from the anxiety meds, especially xanax, are you taking anything else any supplements anything differant.

Did you just quit the Zoloft?  It sounds like withdrawal to me.  Tell us more about how long ago you discontinued these medications.  In the meantime, if you did just quit the Zoloft, and if what you're experiencing is intolerable, go back on it at the last dose that didn't give you bad symptoms, and taper off more slowly.  And try taking a good healthy dose of fish oil each day, it might help with the zaps.
