SO,as a pro athlete...how will beta blockers affect me ? I need to train at a high level, which means a high heart rate ??
Hi,
Beta blockers need to be taken to reduce the heart rate only if it’s clearly indicated; otherwise not. One can always exercise inspite of taking beta blockers but remember that with exercise there’s a transient increase in the heart rate but regular exercise actually results in lowering of the heart rate. You see, athletes have a much lower basal heart rate and it’s a good sign.
In fact, on the long run, regular exercise is a much better way to reduce one’s heart rate rather than taking beta blockers; unless and until there’s clear cut indication for the same.
I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Do you feel that your heart rate is lower than it should be? If so, you should talk to your doctor about reducing your dosage. Trying to get your heart rate up with exercise is counter productive.
