Heart Valve Surgery

My Mom had her Mitral Valve replaced with a pig valve and her tricuspid valve repaired.  Her aorta was calcified and the surgeon was not able to replace it.  Her kidneys and lungs have been shut down after surgery and she is on kidney dialysis.  The meds are what is keeping her heart going with a BP of 80.  My question is:  Is it possible for the lungs and kidneys to start working again if her heart improves?  She had the surgery two days ago.

Thank you.  She has had two very rough days and the doctors said it would take a miracle.  This afternoon, her Kidneys and Heart started working.  Now the doctors are saying 3 1/2 weeks and she should be going home.

Hi Encephalomalcia,

I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but you might want to try posting to one of the doctors (click on the expert forums, to the right).

I hope your Mom improves and brighter days are ahead.
