High Blood Pressure 150/96 age 41

My husband became lightheaded at work the other day while at his computer.  When checking with the college nurse where he works, it was found that his blood pressure was 150/96.  When visiting the doctor regarding this high blood pressure, the doctor was not very concerned about the blood pressure.  He was more concerned about the lightheadedness and thought it could possibly be due to caffeine from coffee.  My husband had some blood drawn and was told to come back in one month.  I am worried about his high blood pressure.  His family has heart problems and his mother's two sisters died from strokes and brain hemorrhages.  Previous doctors told my husband he had athletic asthma and yet said that he had very high lung compacity.

I am concerned that my husband could have a blood clot or stroke?  Am I being overly concerned about his blood pressure?  Nobody in our family has had this high of a blood pressure and yet there is a lot of heart disease in our family.

Thanks.  He has been on a salt restricted diet for 2 years now.  His blood pressure was 145/86 at high and sometimes lower for the past 5 years that we have been married.  I don't know what his blood pressure was before we were married as he was not watching it.  Recently it has gone up to 150/96, 150/93 over the past week (taking blood pressure from a nurse at his school).  Previously we had found out that his blood pressure was elevated at a health fair where he works.

I will relax and wait for his next appointment.  Hopefully, it will go down.  We have been under a lot of stress lately.

Hi, relax, the finding doesn’t mean that he has sustained hypertension, one must monitor blood pressure at least thrice on different occasions and if it shows more than normal on all the occasions, one should take the treatment which starts from salt restricted diet and medication.

Nothing much to worried about, wait for the blood reports. Hypertension can easily be controlled with medications and so does it complications like stroke etc. The episode of dizziness he had does not look like stroke.
