Has Anyone Survived CHF Over 30 Years?

Just wondering are there patients living with  LV CHF for over thirty years or more?  I was diagnosed with LV CHF( 30-35) in 2006. I am feeling better each day.  I have a wonderful cardiologists who promised that he could help strengthen my heart and so far the medical regime (a combination of heart meds and vitamins/minerals/low salt/low fat diet are working fine). I can walk twenty or more blocks with little or NO shortness of breath. I sleep normally on only ONE pillow and take two short naps daily to ward off fatigue. MOST of time I feel great!

P.S. I also pray three times a day asking the GREAT CARDIOLOGIST (Psalm 103:3) to regulate the functions of my heart through out the day.

The heart medications are great at helping people live long lives with CHF, especially the ace inhibitors (which are proven in studies to increase lifespan).  Reducing stress, eating healthy and avoiding salt, taking medications as prescribed by the doctor are the key to a long life.  You must be taking very good care of yourself.

My Husband was diagnosed with CHF at the age of 43 on a routine physical. He had no symptoms but Dr.s also discovered he had Left Bundle Block. He was not overweight and his job was very physical. After echo, Dr. discovered his EF was 23%. His heart rate was so low that they wanted to put in LVAD. Since then we have discoverd a problem with both leads and now he is having a pain in his heart that seems to be worsening. He is feeling tired again and I am worried that these pains are a warning. Dr.s are saying that they are going to have to go in again and replace leads but keep a watchful eye every 3-4 months to monitor this disfunction. Meanwhile we are on pens and needles every minute.
