Can anyone help?

I was just recently diagnosed with Crohn's. I had a colonoscopy done a few weeks ago and the dr. saw inflammation and bleeding and took biopsies. He suspected Crohn's. My question is...the biopsies came back negative for Crohn's, but the blood work was positive for Crohn's, has anyone had a similar diagnosis? Thanks for your help!

Yeah, he prescribed Flagyl for the first 10 days, which is an antibiotic, and I'm taking Nexium for the Gastritis and Entocort for the inflamation in the small intestine. I don't see my doc again either until the end of February.
It sounds like you do have something else going on though besides what's going on inside your colon. You may be having problems with your gallbladder too. It's good that they're catching all this and doing something about it. I hope everything turns out well for you. Take care!

Wow, that is strange! Yes this is all new to me. I have not had my follow up appt. with the GI dr. yet, I go see him on Feb. 5 and maybe get some answers. He ordered a CT scan a few days after my Colonoscopy/endoscopy because he said I have a tortuous colon and he could not get the scope high enough to see what he wanted to see. The CT showed that I have gallstones and fluid on my pelvis. I am going to my OBGYN on monday to see about the fluid. He did not prescribe meds yet, he wants to wait until I come in to see him. Thank you so much for your reply. It helps to talk to someone who knows what you are going through! Are you on medication for yours?

Wow, that's really strange! I had the exact opposite as you! My blood test came back negative but the biopsy suggested high probability of Crohns (like 98%). I guess Crohns is tricky and hard to diagnose. Sometimes it takes several biopsies and tests to confirm their suspicions. I too just had a colonoscopy/endoscopy and it seems to confirm Crohns. I have inflamation throughout, ulcers in my terminal ileum (which is where Crohns usually is the most evident) and Gastritis in my stomach.

I don't know why it's so hard to diagnose Crohns. I've heard of it taking years for people to get a proper diagnosis. Did he prescribe any medication for the inflamation? Are you supposed to go back to see him again? What does your doctor say about all of this? I hope you can get a proper diagnosis soon. I know how frustrating it can be to not really know what's going on. Best wishes!
