Hi. I had sedation when I had my sigmoid. I have never had one without the sedation and i thought that the actual procedure with it was a piece of cake. The worst part was the prep for havingin it done. The only thing that was uncomfortable even with the sedation was when they bloat your colon with gas to maneuver around...and that was only because I wasnt prepared for it. I mean come on who wouldn't be a little perturbed when you don't know someone is going to literally blow co2 up an out only body cavity? Sorry..I do kinda find humor in it now that it was over. If you are unsure of exactly what will happen during the procedure feel free to email me at ***@****. I didnt have the most personable dr and I had no clue what was actually going to happen until it was happening...and I would hate to think that someone else would go through so much worrying like I did just because they were uneducated about the procedure.

Back before my surgery for colitis they didn't provide sedation.  I would have greatly preferred it.  My son gets it for his and it helps to keep him vigilant with getting them.  When they are to uncomfortable you tend to find excuses to avoid them.  Good luck!
