By the way, I didn't mean to hijack your post. That is truly a great event and bike enthusiasts don't often get the respect they should for the good they do.
Good event. There is a bit of irony in me seeing this post today. A guy I know who is an avid rider put up a post on his blog as well as on his Facebook page. "It's almost summer so its time to be looking out for bikers."
He posts this every year and every year I make the comment that it is "Up to bikers to look out for themselves. Quit riding in blind spots, quit crossing and crowding the solid yellow lines and quit assuming everyone is looking out for you". He gave me a bunch of flack for it.
He was in an accident today. He ran a red light and smashed into a pick up truck. He's going to be okay. His bike is mostly toast. I want to be a smart *** and refer him to his posts and my subsequent posts but I don't have it in me.
People! If you're going to ride, put your safety in your hands first! Obey the laws.
