I know when one of my parents was growing up they had to incorporate
more science into the curriculum because the U.S. was trailing way behind
the then Soviet Union in technology and research. This was specifically after
they successfully launched Sputnik and the renewed emphasis on science allowed our country to renew its status as a leader not just as regards the space race but overall. The focus on history and education in many parts
should have a pragmatic emphasis.
Common core stinks. Whose bright idea was that? Our state is repealing it.
When I was in school, we were allowed to disagree with teachers without getting suspended and if the teachers were wrong, most of them were big enough to admit it...
At any rate, I think too much of history has already been rewritten so it's not being taught correctly, anyway.
Some schools or maybe I should say some educators have been teaching their ideas of the facts for a long time. I got suspended one time for 3 days which actually only lasted about a couple of hours because I pointed out the facts and proved the teacher wrong.
I was right, he was wrong and I was "insubordinate".
Just give them Common Core and teach them believe whatever the government tells them...
History. Too many kids don't pay attention in History as it is. Just put the "good stuff" out there and we will be producing bigger idiots than we already are.
