Oddly, I seem to agree with El. I see little difference between the two major parties anymore other than from the extreme elements ( i.e. teapartiers)

What disturbs me is how much money is spent on these campaigns which means the 'winners' are beholden to the money that got them into office.

It's way past time we had limits on funding for campaigns but there's no way that's going to happen especially when you have a supreme court that rules it's alright to lie in political ads and money is free speech.

Yes, that's my understanding, as well.

Yes, but it is my understanding it takes 2/3 votes from both houses to over ride a veto.

"Keep in mind, Obama still has power of veto."

Yes, but Congress can override a Presidential veto.

D's & R's are all part of the whole corrupt political system we have in this country. Nothing in DC will change.

Just because the Senate is now full of guys with "R's" on their shirts instead of "D's", doesn't mean they'll lie, cheat, steal and do-nothing any better than the last guys that occupied their seats.

Fine. The Republicans took the Democrats to task, and took the Senate. Who cares? Nothing will change.

MY pocket-book will remain ever-empty, while I work my a$$ off at work on a daily basis. I don't care that the national economy is chugging right along. That the unemployment-rate is the lowest it's been since the recession started. Labor-force participation is the lowest it's been since 1978. Wages are NOT going up to keep up with inflation and the ever increasing cost of goods & services.

I'm NO better off now than I was in 2007, when this debacle started.

This country is in the pooper, and no matter WHO or WHAT party is in office (be it in Congress, the Senate, or the WH), we're going downhill and nothing will stop it.

Debbie Downer, signing off.

I'm interested in knowing how many of the newly elected are tea party people.  I guess I can try to look that up.

I didn't want Obamacare, but now that it's here, I don't think they should repeal it.  I think they should revamp it to make it work for everyone, including Congress.

Oh yeah, check this out!

Disgraced Democrat and TV reality star Edwin Edwards is facing a runoff election with Republican Garret Graves in the colorful race for Louisiana's 6th Congressional District.

, the 87-year-old Edwards had 77, 852 and 30 percent of the votes while Graves came second with 70,706 votes and 27 percent of the votes.

But the three candidates behind them for the U.S. House seat are all Republican. Paul Dietzel won 14 percent, Dan Claitor had 10 percent and Lenar Whitney had 7 percent. Their votes are likely to go to Graves in the runoff.

After years of being plagued with charges of corruption, he was found guilty in 2001 of racketeering charges and sentenced to ten years in federal prison.

He was released in 2011 after serving eight years. In 2013, he co-starred with his third wife Trina in an A&E reality show, "The Governor’s Wife," centered around their life together.

Interesting election, results are no surprise really.

....Except here on a state level, a slap in the face for the governor and his crazy single-payer experiment!

Put up or shut up, republicans.  No excuses.  You've made promises and its time to stick to them.

Agree with you. I want them to actually do something. The Senate received many bills from the House that went no where, anxious to see what happens to them now.

I am upset with the fact that I don't think they are going to try to repeal Obamacare.

My thoughts are, I'm optimistic and I'm not surprised by the results. The Republicans (and Obama) have 2 years to prove themselves. I have lost all faith in the Democratic Party and  I have made up my mind, if I don't see some major effort from the Republicans, this will be my last time voting.

Anything is worth a shot.  What we've got isn't working.  I'm guessing it will still lead to politicians being "politicians" and following the status quo.
