Really? A trooper accidentally killed his wife while cleaning his gun? I've heard a few of these stories lately and I don't know as if I buy them all. And you'd think that a trooper, a guy who carries a gun for a living, has to go to the range a qualify on a regular basis, probably cleans his gun on a regular basis. With all of that experience, one would believe that he of all people knows that you cannot properly clean a "loaded" gun.
I guess it is remotely possible that this trooper had gotten complacent, but even then you have to wonder what his finger was doing inside the trigger guard....
There are a lot of fundamentals that got dropped here that would have "prevented" this incident. Seems as if the trooper just missed them.
