Simpler times...watch out some liberal will accuse you of wanting segergation back.
Ebola is no longer the flavor of the day, the media has moved on to police shootings.
Funny, I was digging around up above my garage last week and found a half dozen magazines from 1942, Look magazine and the Post. I can remember finding them on a job years ago up in the attic of an old house.
Anyhow, even during those turbulent times--the news reported was uplifting, exciting. Ads from some companies still around and hated by some..
new nylon toothbrushes, synthetic rubber in tires, war bonds.....
Gosh I wish for simpler times--defined as no 24 hour friggin news..
........also some interesting commentary on American poverty and deteriorating infrastructure compared to other supposedly less developed countries.

South Africa? Not on my list of must see places so the sooner they place a ban the better.
No, we don't all agree on travel bans.
Won't bother to post the clip since I know you wouldn't watch John Stewart and I don't consider Ebola to be a laughing matter, but a South African comedian pointed out that since they were 4,000 miles from the nearest case and had zero cases in their country whereas the US has had several, "South Africa should ban flights coming in from the US.".
The panic was fueled by the media, but I think we all agreed on here that a travel ban should have been in place as we did have a case come to the US.
Ebola was never a real fear for the US but it is still out of control in Africa, but they are black people and we don't really care about black people accodring to Dems and Kanye West.
Ebola probably isn't a realistic concern nationwide and standard issues of quarantine for anyone arriving with potential health concerns can be easily addressed. Internationally it is of course a concern and individuals, philanthropic agencies and researchers are making a difference:

I saw a new one yesterday and didn't have time to post it, but couldn't find it this evening... wasn't Mother Jones "or" USA Today... I'll run across it - just something said in another post that reminded me, so I posted this.
Don't like Mother Jones? How about USA today?

Ebola becoming issue in key Senate races
"Ebola has hit the campaign trail.
At least six Republican candidates locked in tight Senate contests are calling for a ban on travel to the United States from West African countries stricken by Ebola. They are Scott Brown in New Hampshire, Tom Cotton in Arkansas, Joni Ernst in Iowa, Cory Gardner in Colorado, David Perdue in Georgia and Thom Tillis in North Carolina.
The call for travel restrictions seemed to grow Wednesday after it was revealed a second nurse in Dallas who cared for Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan had contracted the disease.
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, became the highest-ranking member of Congress to ask President Obama to consider imposing a travel ban........."
Or now that the Koch Bros and Rupert Murdoch control all the media including NPR.........
