Broke my tooth in half. What am I going to need done?

I was playing basketball the other night and ended up getting the bottom half of my top front right tooth broken off.  The pulp is definitely exposed.  I can see the red flesh and it hurts to the touch.  I'm pretty sure the bottom half can't be bonded on, but i saved it in milk anyway.  I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I'm just wondering what to anticipate.  Will I need a root canal? Just a crown?

You will most likely need a root canal although your dentist will make the call.  They may try to do a "pulp cap" on it and re-bond the broken tooth on there again possibly.  If its too far exposed, then it may require a root canal and a crown.

Adhesive only although the bond strength of enamel to enamel with a bond should be excellent.

If they do re-bond it, will it eventually fuse together or will it only be held there be the adhesive?
