Can u see in x-ray if crown is loose?

My crown feels fine to me but western dental is telling me that my crown is loose. It shows on the xray that 1 side is closed and the other side is open, like a gap. Saying that it needs to be replaced. My friend is a dental assistant and she is telling me u can't tell that the crown is loose since their metal. is this true?

Your friend is correct that x-ray can not tell whether the crown is loose or not, but it does reveal that if there is gap between crown and tooth interface or overhanged margin. If a gap is present, redo crown is a better option.

i just want to add  if you are not comfortable with a diagnosis a second opinion is always an option especially for a costly procedure that may or may not be necessary.
