Crown Lengthening Pain

Crown Lengthening Pain

I am experiencing overwhelming pain on tooth 31 which I had a Crown Lengthening one week ago.  I went back to "general dentist" yesterday complaining of pain and they took a quick look and said it was "normal" and gave me a strong perscription for Vicodin.  I am in even more pain then before, I feel like I have a fever.  I called and left a message for the dentist and have not heard back.  I'm scheduled to see the oral surgeon tomorrow and dont know how I am going to make it until then.  Is extreme pain normal? I have never felt anything like this before. I'm told the healing time is a couple of days.  I'm going into a week and it is getting worse and dentist office is treating me like I'm crazy.  Love to know your thoughts?
