Can it be triggered from stress? Or be an allergy? I went through a long period of stress and now it has appeared again, I think this may be the trigger
I have been taking a B complex vitamin, B12, and Zinc for a few months and do not see a difference. I avoid all spicy and acidic foods and its still there. I had it before as a baby and my brother has pretty much always had it. Could this be genetic? If so, will it always be there or will it come and go?
Hello there,
Vitamin B deficiency is the root cause of geographic tongue. Other causes are irritation from hot or spicy foods, or alcohol. There is a map-like appearance to the surface of the tongue with burning sensation and pain. This condition is harmless but it can be persistent and uncomfortable. Treatment involves use of antihistamine gel or steroid mouth rinses. Do keep me posted.
Best wishes and regards!
