Crown not fitting properly?

Hi, I have been to the dentist twice and everytime she tries to place my new crown on she says it will not fit properly and has to send it back to the lab. She says the margins are not right. I have to go back a third time to have a impression done and it is becoming a hassle along with being painful due to placeing the cords around the gum. She blames it on the lab, but It's makes me wonder. I have never had this happen before and have several crowns. What could possibly be the problem? Please let me know. Thanks.

I would ask for a refund and see another Dentist. If you have an open margin on a crown it
will continue to decay. The tooth is most likely hurting due to the trauma of the drilling you may also end up having a root canal. Please change Dentist.

How did this eventually work out?  Did you stay with the dentist and get a new crown and it fits with no pain, shredding of dental floss at margins, etc?  You know, most dentists lack a conscience and what ever comes from the lab gets cemented in permanently and don't care about overhangs and gaps in the margin and any future decay will be blamed on the patient.  I think you are lucky you have a dentist who is willing to retake impressions and make that lab do an excellent job.  Most dentists consider it a financial loss taking extra impressions for another crown.

I was a dental assistant for 24 years. The lab fee is 125.00 to make the crown. I would tell the office manager you are going to check with better business bureau to see if there are any other complaints. I would file the complaint and tell the office manager its not the lab its the dentist. Demand a full refund, and tell the office manager you want to be paid for
your time you have missed from work.

Hi again. I already have had a root canal done on this tooth years ago. This is a replacement crown because I had decay under the old crown. I did ask for a refund, but the office manager of the office said they could not refund my money because the crown had been paid for. I paid for it myself! They said their other dentist will take another impression of the tooth. It has been a pain dealing with them. It is not my fault they can't get it right!  They always blame the lab for the mistake. I wonder though. I am going to get a new impression done next Tuesday. It just makes my gum so sore after the procedure due to the numbing. This is twice this has happened and I have to take off work to get this done. They ought to give me some freebies after all the stress and pain they have caused!!!

Hi again. Yes she is taking new impressions every time. She does numb the area but the gum area is still sore afterwards. This has been a nightmare because i really have lost faith in my dentist. She blames the lab, but i am starting to wonder. I have never had this happen before and I have several crowns. This was a replacement crown. If this keeps on happening, what would you recommend doing. The bad part is I have already paid for the crown in advance!
