Crowns coming out Bad Dentist?

Hi I had very bad teeth and I have like 4 crowns. 2 of them have come out. I need a bridge for another where it is missing. Well they told me I need a bridge. and I have another crown which hasn't fallen out but its  done by the same dentist. My dentist never told me about the option of getting a Dental Implant. I googled information about it and it seems to be a better option than a Bridge. My guess is that the Dentist doesn't make money if a surgeon puts the Implant in. Instead he wants me to do a bridge with him. Is this true? I'm considering changing my dentist because when the crown came out he said. "I need to have it extracted because theres alot of decay there" If it had a crown why would it decay unless he didnt do a good job on it. Why does a crown fall out only after like 2 years?

So my question is do you think I should change my Dentist?
Where can I find the best Dentist? I live in Melville, New York.
And are Dental Implants a good option for me. Two of my crowns are in my front noticeable teeth and right now its missing and I feel kinda sick about it im gona brush my teeth right now LOL

Decay can happen within months of having a tooth restored which means those crowns can fall out within months of placement depending on your oral hygiene.  You can still get decay under crowns, especially if you are not flossing and eating lots of carbs.  It sounds like you need to work on your brushing and flossing.  I would recommend an ultrasonic toothbrush with a soft brush, sonicare is a good one with soft bristles.  Another idea would be to get fluoride gel from the pharmacy (its OTC now, but kept behind the counter so kids cannot reach it).  Brush with the gel 2-3x a week, following the instructions on the box.

Both the surgeon and the dentist would be paid for the implant.  Surgeons typically do not place the crown, a general dentist does this, and yes its a better option than a bridge especially if you are lax in flossing the bridge.  Its more expensive than a bridge, but will last you longer and possibly not even have to be replaced.

implants can cost about 6000 each so be prepared to pay alot of money.... and if he already did the extraction and it has healed will be harder to put an implant there.... they have to place the base of the implant at the time of the extraction so the bone doesnt grow back.....

Hi,
Both my DH and I have had implants placed.  I had mine placed at the time my teeth were removed and he had them years after this teeth had come out.  Implants are just like screws.  If the bone is there, they can be screwed into it.  If the bone isn't, there are many ways to replace it.

In both our cases, we needed bone graft material.

As to costs, my implants were a little over $2K each (I had four) and the crowns and abutments were another $1175 each.  This didn't include the removable metal partial that I used while the implants healed.  That was $1200.

The type of implant and when and how it is placed can be determined by a good board certified oral surgeon.  Many people get implants long after the teeth have been missing.  Many times it just requires a bit more "Bone in a Bottle".   Your individual situation can only be determined by getting an implant consultation.

Hope this helps.
Best to you,
Gellia
