Your dentist put to much fill into you tooth. Tell her to redo it. It's pushing down on your nerves in she know it. Its all about money. This happen to me. If she not listing to you please find another dentist that will list too you.
in this case the pulp is injured (irreversible pulpitis) as i suppose, which means that you have to go for root canal treatment...
The injury to the pulp might be of many reasons, but in your case i suppose that the cavity preparation is too deep because of gross carious lesion

Just want to say thanks! I believe the dentist used light curing and ionomer. Im still having pain off and even when i dont eat! I also had 2 top teeth done the same way with great results.Do you think the tooth should of been pulled or root canaled?
It might be sensitivity to the composite restoration which affect 10% of Patients...
your doctor may replace it with amalgam restoration or if you still want a tooth colored restoration, the Dr, can use glass ionomer underneath it..
Composite restorations are technique sensitive... it needs a great isolation of the tooth being restored plus the Dr can use a soft start with the light curing system to minimize the reason of pain which is the polymerization shrinkage
