Dry Socket

My molar cracked from eating some food. On June 8, 2015, I went to the dentist and she said that I need it to be extracted. As she looked at the x-ray, she said it is infected to the root. I replied that it's not good because infection can spread. She agreed.  She then proceeded with the extraction. I had immense pain. She tried her hardest to pull it out with several times of it "popping" .  My head jerked when this happened. This happened a few times.  She injected my gums many times with, I believe, novacaine.  The top part of my tooth came out. She showed me but still had to get the rest of the tooth out. She then proceeded and took the the rest out in parts. Afterwards, she said she will give me pain meds, when I asked about antibiotics for the infection. She said there was no infection. She gave me my script for pain.  I have been in immense pain, with no relief from vicodin. I tried to bare with the pain. I called back the dentists office on June 16, and went in on June 17. The other dentist examnined me and said yes, I have dry socket. She asked if I wanted something to numb the area, and I said, Oh Yes, I will need it!! While she was cleaning and examining me, she said that my jaw bone was filed a bit, and she was glad that she numbed the area because it is deeper then she thought. After that, she cleaned it and placed a packing in it that was dissolvable.  She said if it still causes pain call back.  Well, I am still in a lot of pain. As I told the second dentist, this hurts more then the cracked molar.  Should I have had stitches in the first place? The first dentist said she was going to give me a stitch, then decided not to.  Anyway, I still have immense pain. Even with pain meds and even oragel, I still have pain but it is a bit subdued with it however without it, I have excruciating pain. I have high blood pressure also and that also worried me. How much longer will this dry socket last. I worry about this because I have had breast cancer twice, this was many years ago and has been resoved. I still see my oncologist to be sure nothing comes back.  Thankyou for your answer!!

Administration of  appropriate antibiotics can clear up dry socket. Seeing an oral surgeon is advised.
