Ganglion block

My question though is what are they hoping to achieve with this ganglion block as opposed to the other types? And i also am a little foggy on the sympothetic pain and what it is.

interesting question!  However you do not give specifics of your pain.  Is the pain in your jaw or are your teeth hurting and if so which ones?  Check into atipical ondontaliga or previously know as atipical neuralgia.

Sorry for being vague.  A dentist broke my jaw extracting a wisdom tooth, then hid it from me causing to bone to die and causing permanent nerve damage on a pain level of 5-6 constantly, nothing releaves the pain. I have been going to a pain clinic to try blockers. First they gave shots inside my mouth and around the muscles. This was excuciating and did not give me any relief. Now they are trying something called a ganlion nerve block. I had it done and am not sure of any change except that when they gave it, I could not move my right arm for about 12 hours. It was as if I were paralyzed. My question is what is this ganglion block, how is it to help and is the paralyzation normal. Also, I was told that if this did not help then I had sympothetic pain and there was nothing they could do to help. What does that mean??
