Gingivitis and Ulcer

Hi, my dentist told me i have a gingivitis abt a week ago, because i feel pain and bleed alot when i brushing, when she was examined my gums an ulcer in between my teeth can be seen, so i am just wondering can a normal gingivitis developed an ulcer or its a trench mouth disease? if its a normal gingivits how long does it takes recover from the condition? or if its an trench mouth how long does it take? i am currently been prescrbe a GENGIGEL and Sorcoseryl Dental Adhensive Paste...its been 4 days now it seems the bleed are less and the pain as well, but the Ulcer cut still there like no improvement, is it a sign of any dengerous thing going on here like Oral Cancer? i am really worried abt it now

Thank you, Your replies are much appreciated

Hi,
Anytime there is gingivitis present it is normally from plaque that has formed below the gumline and allowed to accumulate.  Did your dentist clean your teeth?
You will need a thorough cleaning when the ulcer heals.  It sounds as though the ulcer is an abscess from the plaque.

The best thing you can do is follow the dentist's advice and be gentle, but completely thorough in your brushing.  You need to start to floss, too.  Brushing should be twice daily for about two minutes each time.  It takes that long to get the sticky plaque from your teeth.  Flossing is SUPER important at least once daily.  It removes the plaque that forms between the teeth which is what sounds like happened to you.  That is a total of five minutes of your life.  It's a very important five minutes though.

If you haven't had a cleaning, your dentist will surely want to do this when the ulcer has healed.  Trench mouth would be treated the same way as there is no real way to know the difference and trench mouth comes from bacteria that is the same type found in the plaque that collects on your teeth.  It is very hard to tell the difference between that and a periodontal disease.  The treatment would be the same.
Be SURE you follow what he says.  Four days is not long enough to heal a mouth ulcer.  Give it more time and rinse with warm salt water (1/4 tsp to 8oz) in the meantime.  This will be soothing and promote healing.

GOOD LUCK.  I really hope this helps.
My best to you,
Gellia

If the ulcer is still bothering you I would recommend going back to your dentist, or at least calling to let them know it's not getting better and ask if you should you be prescribed antibiotics.
