Does she have any other symptoms besides a blue color? Is it swelling or anything? You can always go back to your dentist to have it checked out.
The gum is not swollen or hurting or tender, just blue.
Wy wife saw a dentist; she has referred us to a specialist because she does not know what it is.
I was just wondering if there is a simple explanation since my wife doesn't see the specialist for a few weeks and I wanted to present her with possibilities; she's worried.
Its hard to speculate based upon a blue color but a blue filled color may indicate blood filling into a cyst. If its a cyst, they can remove it surgically and it should heal up fine. But I don't know for sure. Generally a cancer is either red/white in color so that wouldn't be at the top of my list in terms of possible problems. You may want to ask the oral surgeon on the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery section of medhelp to see what he thinks.
