Intermident severe pain in both jaws after extraction.

Hello,  I am at my wits end right now.  I had tooth #18 extracted ten days ago.  The extraction site seems to be healing well but I am getting severe intermident pain in both my upper and lower jaws.  When it starts, the pain seems to radiate from the lower jaw to upper.  I take 10mg norco for unrelated health issues as well as advil and a prescription NSAID with no relief at all.  I went to the dentist today and he said dry socket, however the stuff he gave me hasnt done a thing (and the clot is still there).  I cannot handle this pain anymore and will try anything for relief.  I have not been able to eat for days as even soft foods will trigger these episodes.  My jaw/cheek also ache constantly and my jaw now clicks everytime I move it (never had these issues before).  Can somebody tell me what this is.  Recommendations for pain relief (Ive tried heat, ice, pain meds, muscle relaxer, salt water rinse, soft foods, no food)  .

trigeminal neuralgia might be your issue. I believe I have it and I have not found anything that stops it. It's extremely hard to diagnose. I remember going to the ER in extreme pain but since I was new to that hospital they had a suspicion I was looking for drugs and I understand why. There is no sign of trauma, no swelling, no xray will show it... it's just severe pain that radiates on one or both sides of your jaw, teeth, face... it's miserable and I found only extreme pain meds give relief. Vicodin doesn't touch it and ib proven/Tylenol is a joke. I haven't had an occurrence in about a year but I still fear it will come back.
Hopefully this helps
