Intermittent swelling on right side of hard palate

Hello,

Off and on for a few months I’ve had this sensation of the right side of my hard palate swelling and feeling bumpy (almost ulcers?) along the gums behind my teeth. The ridges on the roof feel more prominent, almost as if it’s burned, but again, only on the right side. A couple months ago I had a hard moderately painful bump right at the alveolar ridge that went away after about a week. Off and on since then, I’ve been experiencing this swelling, somewhat numb sensation off and on. It might last a few days, go away and then come back a week or weeks later. I do have cold sores unilaterally on the right side of my lip, and I have been concerned that this is a wandering cold sore outbreak, though it doesn’t seem typical. Then of course I’m concerned about something more malignant. I haven’t the slightest idea what this could be. Any thoughts or anecdotes? Thank you!
