Is there a combination retainer/night guard around?

Hello,
I am a 23yr who wears a retainer at night.  I recently started night grinding and have noticed some wear on my incisors. I went to a dentist and he said he could make a dental guard that would probably retain my teeths' positions. The guard doesnt seem like a good retainer from the way he phrased it.

So...is there a device that could do both with a high rate of success?

A well fabricated occlusal appliance of upper arch can serve as both retainer and tmj  associated symptoms reliving device. Seeing a tmj specialist is advised.
