Lip Still Numb

I have a tooth (#20) that is broken and needs a root canal. I have to wait for my insurance to renew before I can have it fixed because there is not enough insurance money left to have it fixed right now. There is an infection and I am on antibiotics and the infection is almost all gone, the problem is that my lower lip only the left half and partway down my chin is still feeling numb (like when Novocain is wearing off and it is tingly with some feeling but still considered numb). I am wondering if this numbness will go away once the infection is completely gone or is there a chance that it may be permanent?
