Numb chin/lip

I have always had a bad jaw, but it didn't really affect me much. After a recent trip to the dentist getting a filling done of the left side that side of my jaw gave me pain and was difficult to open. The other day I opened my mouth wide for something and heard alost like a tearing sound. Now a few days later after I eat my chin/low left lip are numb for a few mintues. What is wrong with me, is it serious?
