Question on Retainer...???

Hello, I am a 30 year old healthy individual that wears a acrylic top retainer that is hard, and a lower clear like softer plastic type like invisaline...I have been through it all when it comes to my mouth and teeth....I had a pair of braces on when I was around 11 or 12 and a expander on the roof of my mouth to make wider, and I always had a under bite...I had a second pair of braces put on in my mid teen years and even had a receding gum on one tooth that was nicley fixed and still looks great! Once I was 20 I gotten my second pair of braces off and then had my jaw surgery...for under bite and they even brought my top jaw out more as well..It all went well and looks good. So anyways my orthodontist had me wearing those two retainers I mentioned above and have been every night for 10 years now..Do I really still need to wear them forever like she said? I have been reading about the toxins in these retainers and I do not want them to get into my system in no way! I am a huge health person to the extreme and I take this serious. What are the chances of my teeth moving with all I have given you? they look great and been so for the past 10 years now.... Give me some statistics and odds for this question...Thank you!!

ok thanks.... I mean would my teeth in all reality go crooked again if I stopped wearing them?

I would get a second opinion, forever is rare and usually only requires wearing them at night only. This allows enough support for your teeth to remain where they were corrected to with the braces.  I wouldn't worry about any harm coming to you from wearing them...I would question when and how long you actually need to wear them.
