Root canal impact on future health

Hi all,

I had an RCT 12 years ago and have just started reading all of the articles and discussions about future health implications (cancer and heart disease). I'm finding it impossible to figure out what's best for me, and to eliminate the nagging thought that some evil bacteria and toxins are festering away, impacting my health.

I'm a healthy, 36-year-old male, who's very health conscious.

I know it's difficult to offer advice over the internet, but I'd appreciate your point of view and hearing what you would do in my situation.

The RCT itself has not caused me any issues, but I don't know what is happening inside the tooth. Short of actually pulling the tooth, is there anything I can do to get a little peace of mind without continually worrying about it?

Thanks.

Its hard to say at this point.  I would say that anything is possible but right now, the general consensus in the dental profession is that a root canal is a safe therapy for now.

This is the doctor who thinks otherwise: http://mizar5.com/coverup.htm

Do you think his findings carry much weight?

Thanks.

Root canals have been performed for years now.  They're safe.  If they weren't, we wouldn't do it due to liability.  Where have you heard/read that RCT's cause cancer or heart disease?
