Any new information on this problem? I have the same thing happening, but only when I am up and out of bed. I am 60 and very active. It's excruciating by evening and I go lay down for relief. I wake up and am fine for about 5 mins.
I will try this post again...responded once before, but i don't think it went...anyway..thank you for your response and suggestions...I will give them some thought. This is a very frustrating problem...I have not found anyone except on here that has had this same problem. Do you notice that your symptoms are better in the a.m. and then increase in discomfort as the day goes on? Do you use mint gum to get some relief? I do get about an hr. of pain free time when I keep mint gum in my mouth..even after the flavor is gone....the worse thing about all that I have seen on the internet is that the problems lasts for many years...I am only into my first year..and can't imagine several years of this...yuck! Wishing you the best in dealing with this..I can certainly feel your pain!!!!
I have suffered with burning mouth syndrome for 4 years. It is a very frustrating malady. I have tried everything. It helps to stay away from acidic foods. My dentist is the one who diagnosed it. He said to rinse my mouth with very hot sauce repeatedly over several days in order to desensitize the mouth. I take 40 mg of Prilosec daily also. I have not tried the hot sauce yet. B vitamins may help as it flares up with stress or crises. It really does seem to be related to a trauma of sorts whether it is a physical or emotional one. Mone started the day after I watched my father-in-law die from a brain tumor. I have been to a Neurologist who specializes in it and she suggested Neurontin but I do not want to take this strong medication. I tired Lexapro which did seem to help but again I am not willing to go that route but I will say that when it is really bad I do take 25 mg of Xanax which helps tremendously.I have also found relief from progesterone supplement. It really does seem to be related to hormones and stress. I wish you luch. It is a very real ailment that many people, doctors included, have never heard of.
Your presentations appear to suggest burning mouth syndrome or disorder. Seeing an orofacial pain specialist or oral medicine specialist is advised.
