Something in my mouth.

I noticed it about two weeks ago while on vacation, and it appeared out of nowhere! It's completely painless, and it's about the size of a nickel on the inside of my cheek. It's not much different in color from the rest of my mouth, and I can't remember what it looked like when it first formed. The surface feels soft, almost velvety. I have only been smoking for less that two years, so when I asked a cancer specialist they said it's 1/1,000,000 chance that it's any type of cancer. I do drink a lot of soda, but I have for my whole 17 years of existence, so it seems very odd that it would just now happen. Any idea's as to what it is?

The lesion described appears to be asymptomatic, and there is no detectable color, consistency change. The only feature is surface ireegularity. The clinical impression is mucosal erosion or abrasion based on the information provided.
