mispelling, internist. Well I want to know if that compound stuff I ingested is harmful or anything. If anybody knows then I would be obliged for the info please. Thank you
I had a procedure done that used dental putty compound and now I am sick i.e. (coughing). I have a fevor too. I accidentally swallowed some putty because this intenist had too much compound. It made me gag when he stuck it in my mouth. Needless to say it was not a good first experience for a first time denture novice. I don't know if that stuff has made me sick or what but I sure didn't choose to ingest it. It was nasty. Yuck!
Zinc oxide eugenol and polyvinyl siloxane may cause allergic reaction occasionally.
This is for scottma, I was interested in what you had in the post above do you know if any of the 3 Materials you mention could cause allergys?
If the impression procedure is for full(complete) denture, there are generally 2 stages. The first stage is border molding, which utilizes compound stick or putty to achieve border impression. The second stage utilizes wash material to achieve detailed impression, which utilizes polyvinyl siloxane , zinc oxide eugenol. or polysulfide . It's probably washing material that 's ingested. Each individual practitioner may have his own preferred impression material or technique. Perhaps, asking your dentist is the best way to get information you wish to know.
Is it possible that the wax/putty can or has hardened inside my mother's stomach? By the way, what is the correct name/terminology for this type of dental impression material?
Once again, thank you in advance for your response.
Rocio
Most dental materials are non-toxic or harmless in case of accidental swallong.
