Rate of cavity progression

I realize there's no exact answer here, but 2 or 3 months ago I was told I had 4 cavities.  In my previous visit 6 months prior (with another dentist) I was told I had no cavities.

The new dentist says they're 3 surface cavities.  My insurance will take effect in 2 more months.  I've only had 2 cavities in 29 years, so these 4 are a bit of a surprise.

Any idea how risky me waiting this additional 4-5 months is?

what surface of the teeth is affect?  If they are in between the teeth then using a fluoride mouthrinse like ACT (can be bought at your local drugstore by the listerine) and flossing can help.  The progression will be slim in 2 months IF (keyword IF) you properly eliminate bacteria from your mouth combined with a fluoride rinse.

I think they can wait for your insurance to kick in.

if you floss and brush at least 2 a day until that time comes, you SHOULD be ok.  However you are risking having to deal with 4 root canals.  They are A LOT more expensive than cavaties.  And much more painful depending on the expertise of the dentist
