Hello all!!
Today is May 3 am I am 6 days post-op. I had 26 teeth extracted with an oral surgeon and IV sedation. I also had implants placed in the lower jaw. The implants are titanium rods to help keep my bone stable because I am only 27 and the dentist was concerned about bone loss in the future. They will be used in the future to "snap" my dentures in. I had a full set of dentures made and they were placed in while I was coming out of anesthesia. I kept the dentures in for the first 24 hours, as I was told, and went to the dentist the next morning for my first adjustment.
I am still in a considerable amount of pain and the bottom dentures needs more adjustments. The denture is beautiful, but when it is in, it seems too big for my mouth. I can barely close my mouth and my front lip sticks out slightly, is this because of swelling because my mouth doesn't seem swollen anymore. I am also experiencing numbness in my bottom lip and chin. It is uncomfortable and I wanted to know if this is normal? I also wanted to know how long it will be until the dentures feel "normal"? Right now I have stitches across both gums, the O.S. said they are dissolvable, how long should it take for them to dissolve?
I am going back to the dentist Thursday for another adjustment and I am going to ask about a temporary liner. I will update.
