Thoughts on bone graft at age 64 ?

Had all my teeth pulled in July, healing very well. I'm OK with the temporary upper denture (and Fixodent), my permanent lower denture is being made right now. Dentist wants to send me to a Periodontist in January for an upper bone graft before I get the permanent upper denture, for a better fit. I have seen video's of the procedure and read forums. I am really wondering if it worth this agony at age 64. How much time will I miss at work ? How long after will I be able to eat a steak ? What does it cost ? Dental Plan is good for only $ 1700 per year, plus my lower denture will also be billed in January. All and all, is it really THAT important ?

Bone graft procedure is generally not necessary for fabrication of full dentures.Seeing a competent prosthodontist is advised.
