I have not been to a dentist for about 15 years and I finally decided to get my teeth cleaned, not because my tooth was hurting. The new dentist told me that I had cavities where my old fillers where and wanted to fix it, so I said go ahead even though my tooth was not hurting. Ever since he has put the new filler in, my tooth has been in pain to the point where I have not been able to chew on it for 2 years. I was afraid to go back to the other dentist and went with my old childhood dentist to take a look at it and she said my tooth was alittle cracked from it being filled to much and that I should have a crown put on. Since this temporarily crown that has been in for about 5 days, it still has not helped with the pain I'm still feeling. When the food touches it or just biting down on that tooth it hurts. I just don't know what to do next. I am to go back in about 3 weeks to put the permanent crown on.
My question is could I still get cavities from my old filler even though I was not feeling any pain in my tooth and why am I still feeling pain after the old filler has been replaced with the new? Do you have any suggestions what I should do and what kind of questions I should be asking my present dentist? Thank you for your time.
