youll know if you get dry socket. I had a dds perferate a rooth during a root canal and then he had to pull it cus of that. on day 2 i choked on a swollow of water and coughed coughed coughed. the next morning i woke p in the worst pain EVER. aparently i disloadeged the clot...they say you get dry socket in the 2-3 day after an extraction. just be careful not to swish liquids, the way i had to rense my mouth out was pour the liquid in and lean over the sink and just let the salt water pour out. just follow the dds instructions and youll be fine, trust me like i said you will have no doubt in your mind if you get dry socket. havening knee sx was less painful then going through that for a whole 7 days! thats how long i had it...my dds said he was surprised i had it for so long
You're probably already in the clear right now if you take care of the area. I wouldn't say you can eat anything you want and can poke around in the socket with a toothpick but you should be fine as long as you continue to "baby" the area. Make sure you rinse gently and keep the area clean until the socket closes up.
