black coated tongue

am 33 yrs i have noticed at times when i wake up my tongue is coated black at times the soot like coat goes to my teeth,i do not smoke and am in good health,what could be the problem should i worry about it.am scared.anne b

I was just wondering if you take pepto bismol before this happens? I know when I take it I wake up and my tongue is black.

Yay........I, too, started taking pepto bismol and woke up w/a coated black tongue...really scary!.....I haver dreamed it was the pepto! What a relief! thanks!
