burning tongue and dry mouth

i suffer from a dry mouth around mid day and have a feeling of lumps in my throat from this dryness.  i also feel like i have sloughing of my mouth lining because my tongue is so rough on the soft tissue on the roof.  the papillae behind my front teeth becomes so dry and sore that i feel horrible by four in the afternoon.  i feel like cutting out the roof of my mouth it is so umcomfortable.  i drink water all day long and try to eat soft foods so that i do not irritate this soreness.  what could possibly be causing so much dryness?  i have been tested for sjogrens disease and the dr. said i do not have that.  is there any vitamin or supplement that could possibly improve this situation?  i am miserable.
