cipro for tooth infection

I have a chronic tooth infection due to a broken tooth root that has had a root canal done on it.  I have been taking Cipro for a bladder infection.  I am getting ready to go thru the process of a dental implant.  It will be a week or so before I start the procedure.  I still have a slight infection in that tooth area.  Will the Cipro keep the infection at bay until I can have the procedure done.  I was on Clindamycin for a week and the infection was kept at bay with that.  I am hoping that the Cipro will keep the tooth infection at bay as well.  I would rather not be taking two antibiotics at the same time if possible.

Cipro is generally not administered together with clindamycin.
