dental pain after implant

My husband had a dental implant done about 2 years ago and still suffers from sharp pains (on and off), tingling sensations, sensitivity on the face around the area of the implant.  He has been to a doctor, dental surgeon, neurologist and a pain centre, all with no answers.  He has been on pain killers for two years.  The dentist that did his implant feels that there is nothing wrong.  Should we get the implant removed?  When we looked at the X-ray of his jaw there was a small white spot visible on the picture.  It looked like a piece of something, the dentist said it was nothing.  Just wondering if that seems normal?  Thanks for your time.

Has anyone checked your husband's jaw alignment and bite?

If the bite is set wrong, like the implant may be a just a little too big, this can alter the jaw alignment and this can cause real problems.

If the implant cannot be altered by smoothing it down, then the bottom tooth may have to be smoothed down to compensate.   Your husband may wish to consider whether this is worth doing or to have the implant extracted.

I don't know anything about xrays on teeth so I cannot comment on that.
But I do know that having a false tooth that is evenly marginally too big can cause pain by changing the bite, so it is worth looking into this, either with his own dentist or with a orthodontist who specialises in this type of thing.

Best wishes.

Second opinion ! Get another Dental implant specialist to examine him.
My girlfriend had a similar situation. They found that her system couldn't tolerate the titanium.  She recently had everything removed & had a zirconium post implanted.
   Let us know. Pamela
