Need new denture but....
I need a new top denture. The one I have is 20 years old. A Dentist for the Family Health Centers looked at my gums on top and said they may have to be trimmed and gave me a referral to see Oral Surgeon at our University Dental School. I didn't go because there was a high consultation fee and I can only afford the denture and nothing more. Is it necessary to have your gums trimmed at all before you get a new denture??? I am freaked out just talking about having my gums trimmed off. I just want a new denture and nothing else done. Please help me and thank you for reading this long message!
Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate it very much. I really think alot of procedures are unnecessary and I think I will go ahead and get fitted for a new upper denture. Thanks again!

if your upper jaw has flabby sort tissue or epulis fissuratum,which is associated with ill fitting denture,surgical excision of redundant soft tissue may help fabricate new denture. however, you can still have a good denture without surgical intervention as long as you see a competent prosthodontist.
