painful crown

I had a crown placed on an upper premolar.  It was very painful for a week and then the pain eased off but I am left with pain on biting.  My dentist adjusted the bite and also took an x-ray but it is still the same and I avoid biting on that tooth.  What can I do now?

More meticulous adjustment of occlusion is advised.

If you  avoid biting on the tooth it would be necessary to determine why. It is possible that the cement is causing the sensitivity or you have a nerve that is either dead or dying which mean that root canal therapy is necessary.I think some definitive treatment is required.
