Too big crown

I just went in to my dentist to have a permanant crown put on to replace the temporary. It was extremely difficult to wedge this new crown into place. It took a LOT of pushing with popping noises. I felt my other teeth moving. My dentist wants to let the "arch relax" for 24 hours and then cement this tooth in place. Is there any reason my other teeth should have to move or "relax" in order for this crown to fit? Shouldn't the crown fit into the space without moving other teeth?
Thanks,
SSA2

may be the crown is not well prepared...dont worry it just needs slight adjustments in contact area and in occlusion..

Slight adjustment of contact area will facilitate seating of crown.
