new to forum

Has anyone tried the newest trend nutritional eating and exercise to help with depression? I am 45, female and currently only using what I have to each day to survive. I am going to try a new doctor that is suppose to be able to teach you how to eat and exercise as well as think yourself better.  I have been on meds no one has mentioned on this forum, they were experimental and even the drugest questioned the ability for me to ever  get off of them if I started....they sucked! Think of your worst day and add the worst side effect of any drug you've tried on top of that and still most people can't get a glimpse of the agony that some of us have been through. I've tried the drugs for over 20 years, for my sake and for some of yours I hope I am not going to do this in vain. Sucide is my constant companion unfortunatly..............I will not let it get me though. I have a beautiful family and good friends that can not understand how I feel or why. Wish I knew what to tell them. Any of you out there that are Christians please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I undergo this time of what is hopefully a time of healing.
Please don't mistake my Christianity with any type of judgment.............I judge no one on how you feel or believe and will not press mine on you. I just need support like all of you.

Hi, I am in Lawton but from Marlow..............I do have alittle silky terrier he's almost a year old. I've never had a small dog before and he has been very hard to get use to until last night. I guess I'm having some withdrawl issues, in my head or otherwise I don't really know....but Max has paced every step with me, stressed himself out so badly that he is having his own little tummy issues this morning. He's just overly tierd and unusually anxious this morning. I hate it he seems to feel my every feeling. He's really cute for a mop.
So I have terrible OCD, supposedly bi-polar but that seems to be the answer to everything in the last fifteen years or so. I really have OCD, low self-esteem and really bad anxiety with mixed depressions..worse this time of year of course.
Looking forward to hearing from you.............gpwoods

Thank you for your replies............a good attitude is very hard to keep up one thing that has been worth my wieght in gold is a book called Telling Yourself the Truth. I have read and given away many copies.............it is out of print now but is still avaliable on Amazon.com. It's an easy read even for me and I can hardly stop pacing long enough to look at anything.
Venora what kind of dog do you have? I only live about two hours away from you and have been in little town to buy dogs on more than one occasion. I use to raise Australian Shepherds and Blue Heelers as well as wildlife. My doctors all believe that having animals is very important. We had to sell our home in the wild and move to the city my husbands buisness is in so I've had to give up most of my animals.
My dogs couldn't ajust to the little back yard so I found a rancher that would keep them together and gave them to a place they could herd and still swim in the ponds. My wildlife I rehabed what was able to be and the others just found other breeders or homes. I have to say life is much emptier than it use to be.......my boys are grown and I miss the companionship of my dogs. The wildlife was a dream come true for me to be able to see such things upclose and take to schools and nursing homes, but I would never raise to sell wildlife again. I learned that was not a good thing for most people or animals. I know some of them are doing well others were just let go when the new wore off. Thankfully they are much more adaptable than we as humans seem to be.

I will definitely be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope what you are going through will have some benefit for you as well. I have heard that exercise and staying healthy and a positive attitude are key to depression treatment. It's hard to maintain when you feel so down, but I guess that's where the positive attitude comes into play. A counselor told me recently to change my thoughts and behaviors to change the outcome. It makes sense. Just will take a lot to grasp hold of.
Thinking about you...
