Allergic Reaction?

Allergic Reaction?

I have been on three SSRI's in my life.  I was put on Zoloft when i was 16 but was only on it for about ten days, and was then hospitalized for meth abuse, where i was taken off the zoloft.  I was abusing meth while on the zoloft so i didn't think much of it when my lips swelled up and got rock hard. I figured it was because i was using zoloft and meth at the same time.  About a year later i was put on effexor XR, and remained taking it for about 18 months. The same lip swelling happened, but never got rock hard like before.  i figured it was just extremely chapped lips.  they would swell up often,  at least a couple times a month and would remain swollen for a week at the most.  I eventually was taken off effexor, and about a year after that i started taking wellbutrin.  sure enough, after nine days of being on the wellbutrin, my lips swelled up again, which they hadn't done since i was on effexor.  i am not on the wellbutrin anymore, but am still wondering if the SSRI's is what caused that reaction.

I would highly recommend you speak with your doctor, that's an unusual side effect. It could be an allergic reaction. I don't see anywhere that there is a reaction like that. Are you taking any other meds of any kind including OTC? Do you have allergies in general?
My dad gets swollen lips when he is in contact with an allergen. Sounds like it may be the same thing,  but do check with your doctor. Hang in there!

Yeah I've had year-round allergies for the last eight years or so, since I was 12.  The only other thing i take is benadryl when my allergies act up really bad, about once a week.  I was on Allegra the whole time i was on Effexor.  The reason I was thinking that it was the SSRI's was because it only happened when I was on them.  Thanks for the help.
