Anyone on Lexapro?

Has anyone taken Lexapro?  If so, did you gain weight on it or experience other side effects?  Did it give you motivation to do things again?  My neuro doc prescribed it (10 mg) but I'm not sure if this is any good...

Thanks!!

I experienced extreme constipation from Paxil (now the same as Lexapro). Those were the only effects I had and was advised to stop taking it immediately. Wellbutrin (Buproprion) is more effective for me.

It was almost 18 months ago, but I want to say that I did gain a little, but nothing hugely significant.

I finally done my research on this drug and seems like most people gain weight while on it. This is the last thing I need!!  I'm already overweight so this will definitely not work.

I took Wellbutrin XL a while back and loved it!  Gave me my life back but....I had no anxiety issues back then.  Hmm........

I was on it for 3 years and also started to gain weight. My doctor told me to excercise more, but I ended up changing docs and was switched over to Cymbalta and less side effects, no weight gain and geberally I feel a lot better. Good luck!

I have been on Lexapro for a few years with no weight gain.  You need to give it time to build up in your system and if after 4-6 weeks you're not feeling better, contact your doctor. They always start us out on a low dosage which usually has to be increased at some point to be therapeutic for us. Unfortunately, it is often trial and error as to what will work for eack of us as we all react differently to these types of medications. Once you find the right one, it is well worth it!  It not only gave me back my motivation, but my life!  Trust in your doctor and work closely with him in regards to your medication and how you are feeling.  I wish you all the best and take care!
