Depression coinciding with *Disappearance* of common Illnesses such as Colds/Flu

This is the first time I am posting on this forum, and I would be very interested to hear if anybody else has experienced the following, as I can't find any articles online by using regular search engines:

For about the last year or so, I have been affected by what I would describe as a mild, but constant depression. Apart from the usual symptoms, such as decreased motivation and mood, tiredness, and decreased enjoyment from previously enjoyable activities, I also noticed a very puzzling and apparently uncommon 'symptom' (if I can call it that):

Basically, around the same time the emotional aspects of depression started to occur, I also completely *stopped* getting any kind of common illness such as colds, flu, having a fever etc.

I should mention that throughout my whole life prior to the onset of depression (I am 25) I had never been prone to getting very severely ill, but definitely had at least 3-4 milder colds each year and about 2-3 cases of throat infections accompanied by fever etc. (my tonsils were always a problem). The sort of illnesses that will confine you to your bed for a few days, but which essentially feel like a healthy response of your body's immune system and go away on their own after a few days of rest.

I now haven't had *any* kind of cold, flu or fever for about a year, which - for me - is very unusual, and I am starting to wonder if this could in any way be related to the depression, since both started at pretty much exactly the same time.

I feel that if I would go to a regular GP and say: "Can you please help me, I seem to have been unusually healthy throughout the last year", they would probably not be very impressed and not take this seriously at all...
However, I can't help but feel that this sudden absence of normal illnesses is not necessarily a sign of great health, especially since I do feel quite tired most of the time, and since this is coupled with the onset of depression...

I have found some articles online, which link depression to an over-active immune system (i.e. a state of constant slight inflammation), so this could be a possible explanation. However, it sounded as if this constant inflammation would be more likely to produce constant signs of mild illness, rather than eliminate all symptoms, and most sources seem to agree that depression tends to go hand-in-hand with frequent colds and generally decreased health, so I am quite confused what to make of this...

If anybody else has experienced something like this, or even has an idea on how this could be linked to depression, I would be very interested to hear from you!

Thanks.
Sara

You're still young and may have outgrown the usual sore throats etc.  But don't allow being healthy to be a concern because it's not. Being under a lot of stress weakens our immune system making us more prone to colds, sore throats etc, and it may be that your stress has eased up.  You having a healthy year is a very good sign and hopefully it continues.  This is typical for most people....some are sick more one year than another.  Count your blessings here and don't burden yourself with a worry that you shouldn't have.  This is truly nothing to be concerned with.
